Yachtshare History
Yachtshare was started in 1999 by Eric & Heidi Landon who had a desire to own a new yacht but did not want to tie up the capital required. The seed was planted with fractional jets and vacation homes. It made sense; purchase the yacht with partners, and split the cost along with the operating and maintenance expenses. Traditionally, mariners do not use their yacht every weekend or every week. When word started to spread that there was a way to own a boat in Costa Rica and have it managed and have it cost a fraction of what it would cost to own a yacht outright, another boat was ordered, and another, and so on.
Two of Eric’s children have since joined the company and are helping with expansion. Angela who has been in the family business since 2002 has relocated to Panama and opened up offices there. Thomas who has been with the family business since 2007 resides in Costa Rica and is managing operations there.
Yachtshare started with Riviera Yachts of Australia. Since then the relationship has blossomed and in addition to Riviera, Landon Marine Group now represents Grady-White Boats, Viking Sport Cruisers and Marquis Yachts. With this line up of yachts, the needs and requirements of all boaters in Costa Rica and Panama can not only be met, but exceeded.
The strength of the company comes from its family ties and dedication to serving its customers. A marine store and service company have also been started to facilitate timely repairs and reduced down time waiting for spare parts.
We look forward to serving you and to ensure that your boating experience in Costa Rica or Panama is a pleasant and relaxing one.
